AUC Chairperson received the Executive Secretary of IGAD, Dr Workneh Gebeyehu
The Chairperson of the AU Commission , H.E. Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, received the Executive Secretary of IGAD, Dr Workneh Gebeyehu for strategic consultations aimed at deepening AU–IGAD collaboration & enhancing institutional coordination with Regional Economic Communities (RECs), under Dr. Workneh’s current chairmanship.
Discussions focused on joint responses to pressing regional challenges, including the situations in Sudan, South Sudan, & Somalia, as well as developments in the Red Sea arena.
The Chairperson & the IGAD chief underscored the imperative for urgent, concerted action to safeguard peace, security, & stability across the Horn of Africa.
